Smell Imagery

The smell of tar. Imagery of smell is used to help the reader 'smell' what the character in the story smells. A sound of thunder's author uses lots of great smell imagery to help describe the setting of the story. A example of smell imagery is The smell of tar and an old salt sea. Roses sweeten the air. " roses sweeten the air" is great smell imagery because you can almost smell the roses a and imagine the character smelling the roses. The smell of tar an old salt sea is great smell imagery because the author describes a kind of bad smell and you can imagine how the characters smelt and felt in that moment. Overall A sound of thunder uses smell imagery to help the reader to imagine what the character would smell.

The two metaphor is the " all the hours piled high" it is a metaphor cause you can't pile hours
The metaphor is all about going back to the past because there's a time machine. Lots of imagery
Birth and death side by side makes it more powerful. This is putting to different things together that makes them powerful is juxtaposition.

Imagery

1, .
ckels swayed on the padded seat, his face pale, his jaw stiff. He felt the trembling in his arms and he looked down and found his hands tight on the new rifle. There were four other men in the Machine. Travis, the Safari Leader, his assistant, Lesperance, and two other hunters, Billings and Kramer. They sat looking at each other, and the years blazed around them

2, They sat in the ancient wilderness. Far birds' cries blew on a wind, and the smell of tar and an old salt sea, moist grasses, and flowers the color of blood.                    A touch of the hand and this burning would, on the instant, beautifully reverse itself. Eckels remembered the wording in the advertisements to the letter. Out of chars and ashes, out of dust and coals, like golden salamanders, the old years, the green years, might leap; roses sweeten the air, white hair turn Irish-black, wrinkles vanish; all, everything fly back to seed, flee death, rush down to their beginnings, suns rise in western skies and set in glorious easts, moons eat themselves opposite to the custom, all and everything cupping one in another like Chinese boxes, rabbits into hats, all and everything returning to the fresh death, the seed death, the green death, to the time before the beginning. A touch of a hand might do it, the merest touch of a hand.

3,Warm phlegm gathered in Eckels' throat; he swallowed and pushed it down. The muscles around his mouth formed a smile as he put his hand slowly out upon the air, and in that hand waved a check for ten thousand dollars to the man behind the desk.

The energy of the sun is you when you run in a race

Climax

I think this because this when he remembers who were the 2 people and he's about to say it when she suddenly butts in and we don't know what happened to the 2 people. Then he tries again but she butts in again. So in the end we don't know what happens.

Landlady questions

2. Foreshadowing is an advance sign or warning of what is to come in the future. The author of a mystery novel might use foreshadowing in the early chapter of his book to give readers an inkling of an impending murder.
Example: " left?" She said, arching her eyebrow." But my dear boy he never left. He's still here mr temple also here. They're on the third floor both of them together."
3. The dog sleeping at the fire inferred  that it is a cozy place. The inference is that the dog turned out to be dead.
4.it makes it like a murder act. And the landlady isn't nice and she is evil now.
5.the landlady has very good imagery. For example "But the air was deadly cold and the wind was a like a flat blade of ice on his cheeks." Another one is " Suddenly in a downstairs window a brilliantly illuminated by a street light not far away." I think this because you can almost see these descriptions in front of you. You also can imagine that you are Billy and feel and see the things that Billy would see and feel. So that is why I choose these to pieces of imagery from the landlady.
6.the landlady is a murderer who is loves to kill and stuff young men. She  also wants to murder billy and stuff him like Temple and Mulholland. I thin this because in the story she says "Left?” she said, arching her brows. “But my dear boy, he never left. He’s still here. Mr. Temple is also here. They’re on the fourth floor, both of them together.” I think this because in the book it said mr Mulholland was there for three years, so this meant that they must be kidnapped or something like that.
7.in the landlady the ending finishes to sudden. I think this because at first I didn't get what was going on and I think it would be better if the story would go a little bit more to get a hang on the story. This is why I think the ending is too short.

Sports day paragraph

Every year bisb has an event called sports day. In sports day we do athletics and the girls did netball and the boys did football. I think it is a great idea. I think this because there was no uniform and no homework so we had fun without any boring classes. Although the organization was bad, there was no school so that means no learning.
